Pure Tungsten and Tungsten Carbide

The main difference between pure tungsten and tungsten carbide is its ingredients. Obviously, tungsten content of pure tungsten is much larger than tungsten carbide. Pure wolfram is pure wolfram products, which is the material for pure wolfram production, its purity is over 99.95%. Tungsten carbide is a compound containing tungsten and carbon. Pure tungsten is a pure metal, its resistance is small so it has good conductivity property, tungsten carbide is tungsten alloy, whose resistance is large, so its conductivity property is worse than pure wolfram.

There are many similar places between them. High temperature, high corrosion resistance, high wear resistance, high hardness, and low thermal expansion are the same characteristics of them. Products made of pure tungsten have the highest density, including tungsten alloy and carbide products. Because their common characteristics, their applications are also similar. Pure tungsten is mainly used in electrical equipment. Tungsten is commonly used in aerospace and high-temperature applications, such as electronics, heating and welding due to the very high melting point. Tungsten carbide is black hexagonal crystals with metallic luster, whose hardness is close to diamond, widely used as high-speed cutting tools, kiln construction materials, jet engine parts, metal-ceramic materials, the resistance heating element. Tungsten is insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, soluble in nitric acid - hydrofluoric acid mixture. Corrosion resistance of tungsten carbide is very high, generally the higher the hardness, the better the wear resistance, but the fragility is greater.
