What's Tungsten Electrode?

1.What's Tungsten Electrode?
Tungsten electrode is a functional electrode manufactured from tungsten or tungsten-based materials and is widely used for electrical conduction, arc discharge, electron emission, and electrochemical applications. Benefiting from tungsten's extremely high melting point, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, and outstanding structural stability at elevated temperatures, tungsten electrode maintains stable geometry and reliable performance under high-temperature and high-current-density conditions. These characteristics enable it to serve as the core component for current transfer and arc maintenance. As a result, tungsten electrode is widely used in TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, plasma welding and cutting, as well as high-intensity gas discharge lamps and other advanced industrial applications.

2.Features of CTIA's Tungsten Electrode
(1) Extremely High Melting Point and Excellent Erosion Resistance: With a melting point of approximately 3410°C, tungsten electrode resists melting and deformation even in demanding welding and discharge environments.
(2) Excellent Electron Emission Performance: Rare-earth-doped tungsten electrode features lower work function, enabling easier arc ignition and more stable arc operation.
(3) Outstanding Electrical and Thermal Conductivity: High current-carrying capability allows efficient transfer of heat and electrical energy while reducing overheating-related consumption.
(4) High Density and Long Service Life: With a density of approximately 19.3 g/cm³, tungsten electrode offers strong resistance to arc erosion and extended operating life.
