CTIA’s tungsten heater is a resistive heating component used in electron emission systems to heat the cathode and enable thermionic electron emission. Working Principle of Tungsten Heater in Electron Emission Source
The tungsten heater operates based on the thermionic emission principle. When electric current passes through the heater, Joule heating raises the cathode temperature to the emission threshold. Electrons gain sufficient energy to overcome the work function and are emitted from the surface. Under an applied electric field, these electrons are accelerated into a directional beam. Therefore, thermal stability of the heater directly affects beam intensity, focusing performance, and long-term operational stability.
