What Is a Tungsten Heater?
A tungsten heater is a high-temperature resistive heating element made of high-purity tungsten with a purity of 99.95% or higher. It generates heat through its own electrical resistance when energized and operates stably in vacuum or inert gas environments.
Tungsten offers significant advantages over conventional heating materials. It has an extremely high melting point of approximately 3420°C, very low vapor pressure, and maintains excellent mechanical strength at elevated temperatures. As a result, tungsten heaters can operate continuously in the 1600–2600°C range or even higher, making them a critical solution for extreme thermal environments.
Tungsten heaters are critical components in Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) evaporation coating equipment. They are also widely used in Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) equipment, vacuum furnaces, and electron emission devices.
Tungsten heaters have no fixed structure and can be manufactured from tungsten wire or multi-strand twisted wire types. They are available in various designs such as straight, spiral, U-frame (door-shaped), hump, wave, funnel, and V-shaped configurations, enabling adaptation to diverse equipment and heating requirements.
